Economic
Development
The Internet is a critical component of your
municipality's marketing mix. Site selection consultants do
their initial research on the web and many communities don't get a
first look if their website is hard to find or is
unprofessional. Providing advanced tools to help analyze
available sites, workforce demographics, markets and competitors can
sometimes even seal the deal.
MWS can help you take the important first step of creating web
content that sells your community and establishes your brand
identity on the Internet. We specialize in adapting existing
marketing themes and collateral material to the web. We can
also provide advanced tools that help you market properties,
available land or events.
These projects demonstrate our ability to establish municipal
brands on the web:
The Village
of Wheeling, Illinois is aggressive in marketing its
community. The Village has over twelve million square feet of
industrial space and continually leads nearby communities with its
low vacancy rate. The site that we developed for the Village
includes a helpful listing of available buildings and sites as well
as detailed demographic and planning information. On this
project, we worked from existing collateral material to create a
consistent marketing theme across all outlets including web
advertising at Crain's Chicago Business..

The City of Northville's Victorian-themed Downtown competes with
several local malls and entertainment venues. We developed a
separate website for the Downtown Development Authority to feature
the downtown merchants and market the many concerts and other
activities. We also developed a virtual walking tour that
includes every downtown merchant, their business hours and special
Internet-only promotions they may be running. An
administrative system allows the City to easily maintain the
data. We've also developed an affinity program to help
leverage the buying power of the downtown merchants and to provide
an easier way for them to get onto the web.

When a BP/Amaco refinery closed in this Riverbend
community east of St. Louis, the City had to rev up an
initiative to bring new and diverse businesses to the
community. we worked with a local graphics design company to
leverage an existing marketing them to the web. The website
features information on enterprise zones, average daily traffic
statistics on area freeways, and current development projects.
